Democratic candidate Eric Adams handily won Tuesday鈥檚 New York City mayoral election, putting him at the center of a pivotal moment in education.
Adams will take over amid a pandemic, when the city鈥檚 education department is still assessing the damage done by three disrupted school years. He could influence hotly contested policies on gifted programs, student vaccine mandates, and policing in schools.
In terms of his priorities for education, Adams has often talked about expanding the notion of schooling from K-12 to 鈥渂irth to profession,鈥 or 鈥渃radle to career,鈥 as he sometimes says.
