Getting social at FETC: Twitter feed highlights

As thousands of educators learn all sorts of new tools and ideas at #FETC, it’s important to remember this when it comes to technology use in the classroom, tweeted educational consultant on the second day of this year’s Future of Education Technology Conference, with this photo of a slice of cake.

A featured speaker at FETC, held January 14-17 in Miami Beach, Fla., Hooker (@mrhooker) won a whopping 73 retweets for his post (plus 190 likes), earning him the honor of having the most retweeted #FETC tweet. Hooker was also the top engager by likes, with his original tweets receiving an average of 86.33 likes, and the top engager by retweets, with his original tweets getting shared an average of 27.67 times.

That’s all according to an #FETC Twitter activity report from Tweet Binder covering December 28 through January 28during which a total of 18,490 tweets (including replies and retweets) were shared by 4,212 contributors, who averaged 4.39 tweets each.

#FETC tweets were overwhelmingly neutral or positivewith 48.9% of tweets expressing neutral sentiments and 47.7% expressing positive sentiments.

Besides the obviousthe account and the account for program chair, with 398 and 253 total tweets, respectivelythe following users round out the list of most active #FETC Twitter posters:

  • (who ranked first for highest impact, with an impact of 9,241,279)
  • (who ranked second, just behind @fetc, in the number of original tweets, and also was top photographer, with 99 photos posted)
  • (who ranked second most liked, just behind @JenWomble, with 1,242 total likes for his tweets)

Everyone who joined in on the #FETC Twitter conversation contributed to these staggering figures:

  • 175,573,020, the potential number of times someone could have seen the hashtag
  • 17,761,521, the potential reach, or number of unique users who could have seen the hashtag
