For two years, Ken Williams sat at the helm of the Belle Vernon Area School District, running daily operations and guiding students and staff through the COVID-19 pandemics aftermath.
But in 2023, after Mr. Williams realized on a whim that he could retire early, the now 55-year-old officially left his superintendent position, a decision he said he came to after watching the politicization of education and the impact that has had on schools.
The climate in education today is miserable, Mr. Williams, who spent 31 years in the education field, said. I don’t know that there’s another way to put it.
