Study warns AI risks in schools may outweigh benefits for students

A new study from the Center for Universal Education at Brookings warns the risks of Artificial Intelligence in schools may outweigh the benefits for students.

The study highlighted AI’s potential to offer a more engaging approach to reading and language instruction compared to traditional methods. Meanwhile, the study finds AI can also diminish learning, including undermining students’ cognitive development.

Local parents, teachers and experts are split on the issue. The topic of AI, especially in classrooms, has parents and teachers on two ends of a spectrum.
