In a time of budget shortfalls, Houston ISD said they hope to “keep cuts as far away from the classroom as possible,” according to the budget plans.
The district did not identify how many schools may close down. No schools will be closed for the 2025-2026 academic year, but HISD plans to move forward with budget development and workshopping in the coming months and bring a proposal to the school board for consideration in the fall.
