A panel of experts chose 15 winners from more than 160 submissions, all of which will be featured during the Virtual Future of Education Technology Conference速 Jan. 26-29.
Here’s a look at one of the Top Ed Tech Products of 2020:
Oral Reading Fluency
What it is:Istation’s digital oral reading fluency (ORF) assessment is the latest time-saving educational technology from Istation. Powered by voice recognition and AI, the ORF assessment allows teachers to automatically measure oral reading fluency from digitally recorded passages for students in grades K through 5 in both English and Spanish.With ISIP Oral Reading Fluency, students have the opportunity to demonstrate their reading accuracy through the oral reading of text. Teachers have access to an online archive of student recordings. For grades 1-3 in English, teachers receive an automated score for each passage. All of the results are documented online and can be reviewed at any time. The automated scoring feature takes into account multiple dialect regions throughout the US.Also, students can now record passages from home giving teachers the insight to determine whether students are on track to meet reading goals during this time of distance learning.
Why we like it:Powerful AI-driven oral fluency assessment tool. It gives teachers the ability to track students’ literacy progress and automatically scores how they perform. It’s an especially good tool for English learners. It also is a time saver for teachers, who do have the ability to override the auto-scores and provide a manual score for the recordings.
