Superintendents are on the move as the school year takes shape and boards lock in new leaders to steer their districts forward.

Superintendent is moving from the Greenfield Union School District to the Salinas Union High School District, the largest district in Monterey County, California. Galv叩n, who talked toDistrict 91心頭istrationlast year about the importance of community partnerships,has led her current district since 2017 and has been an administrator for 18 years.
“Together, we will focus on advancing academics, celebrating joy and wellness, and empowering our communities to support one another,” she said on the Salinas Union High School District’s website.

In the same part of California, was chosen as the next superintendent of the Alum Rock Union Elementary School District in San Jose. Cerda is the assistant superintendent of educational services at the nearby Campbell Union High School District.
Thomasville City Schools in Georgia named the sole finalist for its superintendent’s post. Sweeting is the director of grades 5-12 curriculum and instruction and director of new teacher induction at Thomas County Schools. He oversees many additional responsibilities for Thomas County Schools. Next door in Alabama, has been hired as the next superintendent of Brewton City Schools. Wieseman previously served as a high school principal in Florence and as the director of athletics for Huntsville City Schools.
Superintendents on the move: Retirements
Here are the superintendents who this week announced plans to retire:
- will retire from the Trumansburg Central School District (New York) in January.
- will retire from the Manheim Township School District (Pennsylvania) on Dec. 16.
- will retire from the Park City School District (Utah) on Jan. 31.
- is retiring from the Tehachapi Unified School District (California).
- will retire from Geneva City Schools (Alabama) on Dec. 31.
- is retiring from the Chico Unified School District (California) at the end of the school year.
- plans to retire from the Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District (New York) during the 2025-26 school year.
- will retire from the South Seneca Central School District (New York) in March.
