Boston will close three more of its public schools at the end of the 2026-2027 school year as part of its larger plan to reconfigure its school facilities.
The School Committee voted to close Another Course to College, Community Academy of Science and Health and Lee Academy Pilot School during its last meeting of 2025. At the same time, the district will also merge the upper and lower schools of the Henderson K12 Inclusion School into one school serving students in pre-K to eighth grade.
We fully understand that closing a school is an emotional and often painful experience, even when the recommendations are grounded in what is best for students and long-term health of the system. Were in the situation we face today because for far too many decades, the district avoided or postponed making these difficult but necessary decisions, said Superintendent Mary Skipper, who provided the recommended closures and changes to the committee.
