With 1 in 3 students attending rural schools, coalition recommends focus on TN rural populations

About one-in-three Tennessee students attend a rural school — and those students face challenges their suburban and urban counterparts sometimes do not share.

With that in mind, the Tennessee Educational Equity Coalition released a new report on Thursday that looks at the complex set of issues that face Tennessee’s rural communities.

The report highlights understaffing, fewer resources, limited access to fast broadband and less opportunity for students to take advanced academic courses.
