In its second year, and Statista unveiled their annual ranking, with U.S.-based companies taking up most of the list.

Started in 2024, this year’s list includes data from more than 7,000 companies evaluated based on a formula combining financial strength and industry impact. According to the ranking, the U.S. boasts the most high-scoring edtech companies, making up nearly 40% of the overall list.

However, companies from China filled six of the top 10 spots, while only one U.S.-based company, Stepful, an online training platform for healthcare jobs, made the cut at number 10.

The top edtech company, Codemao, was founded in 2015 and teaches students coding and programming fundamentals utilizing visuals, allowing them to create their own games and animations.

Many of the companies, especially those in the U.S., are using AI to make teachers’ jobs easier. Gradescope, which ranked 74th on the list, uses AI to assess students’ work and provide feedback, allowing teachers to focus more on instruction.

Others aim to help older users learn modern technologies. Ten Thousand Coffees, a Toronto-based company and ranked 8th on the list, is an enterprise platform that helps employees network and find mentors post-college, and for employers to retain their workers.
