A state teacher鈥檚 union, representing 600,000 educators, is calling on the governor to deal with cellphones in the classroom.

鈥淲e are here united in a common goal: creating healthier, safer, and more focused learning environments for our children through distraction-free schools,鈥 said Melinda Person, president of New York State United Teachers, or NYSUT.

Distraction-free schools mean getting cell phones out of students’ hands during the school day.
