School board member punched in face in argument over Native American mascot name

A man punched a Connecticut school board member in the face after a disagreement about the renaming of a school mascot escalated during a Tuesday night meeting.

In 2020, Glastonbury High School changed its mascot name from the Tomahawks to the Guardians,in order to be racially sensitive. But some members of the community signed a petition to have the name switched back to its Native American themed moniker.
