People Watch: Leadership change in Mississippi district

Lee County Schools Superintendent of Education Jimmy Weeks will begin working for the North Mississippi Education Consortium, a partnership among 44 North Mississippi public school districts, three community colleges and the University of Mississippi’s School of Education. Mississippi’s Lee County school board has promoted Assistant Superintendent Coke Magee to the superintendent position. Magee will be Lee County’s first appointed superintendent, following the state’s 2016 enactment of a law requiring all school districts to have appointed superintendents starting this year.
