A divided state board voted Monday to contract with Catholic leaders in Oklahoma for the nation鈥檚 first religious charter school, St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School.
The Statewide Virtual Charter School Board split 3-2, with members Brian Bobek, Nellie Sanders and Scott Strawn voting 鈥測es鈥 and board Chairman Robert Franklin and member Bill Pearson in the minority.
Strawn, appointed to the board by Gov. Kevin Stitt in March, cast the deciding vote on the publicly funded religious school and then later informed the board鈥檚 chairman that he was stepping down and that this was his last meeting.
