Industry News: K-12 districts partner with suppliers

During the 2019-20 school year, Cleveland Metropolitan School District (Ohio) will use Health IT in the CLE Community Classroom to provide after-school computer and data science instruction to students who can’t access relevant coursework. The district piloted the program once per week during the 2018-19 academic year. The Community Classroom leverages a curriculum developed by Hyland Software.

Hatboro-Horsham School District (Pennsylvania) reduced print costs after Ricoh USA Inc. centralized printer management and reallocated resources. Ricoh recently taught staff how to use the upgraded and optimized printers.

Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD (Texas) will adopt Anonymous Alerts‘ anti-bullying app to further comply with David’s Law, Texas legislation that requires public schools to intervene when cyberbullying is suspected. The app allows students and parents to anonymously submit alerts to school administrators or counselors. An Anonymous Alerts button will be added to the district website.

Thirty-four schools in New York City Schools Community District 19 will receive Great Minds‘ Eureka Math and Wit & Wisdom ELA for K-8 students. The district is providing professional development for using the math and ELA curricula.

Hamilton Southeastern Schools (Indiana) is installing two solar arrays from Ameresco Inc. to power three schools. The district hopes to finance the project with bond fees and operational cost savings generated from the solar arrays, which comprise 4,800 panels. The project will help construct two playgrounds. The district will also receive two solar wagons and use Ameresco’s programming for sustainability education.

Duval County Public Schools (Florida) employs managed solutions provider ESS to recruit, screen, train, hire and manage its substitute teachers and paraprofessionals. ESS also hosts orientation and hiring events for the district.
