Tom Welsh, who sandwiched 12 years as a principal in the Dunlap school district between stints with Peoria Public Schools, is the new superintendent of Roanoke-Benson Community Unit School District in Woodford County.

Welsh leaves his job as executive director of high schools in the Peoria district on June 30 and begins as superintendent in Roanoke-Benson on July 1. His new job responsibilities will include serving as principal of the Sowers Elementary School, grades kindergarten-4, in Roanoke.

Tom has served elementary schools, middle and high schools and in administrative roles, school board president Brad Sauder said Friday. We were most impressed with the breadth of his experience.
