The Consortium for School Networking, a founding partner of the defunct New Media Consortium’s (NMC) Horizon Project, will continue sharing trend reports that support the use of emerging technology in K12 education.
鈥淚t was important, with NMC gone, to honor that legacy and continue to provide high-quality free resources to its community that are powerful and inform strategic planning,鈥 says Samantha Becker, an edtech consultant and former director of the NMC Horizon Project.
The 2019 Driving K-12 Innovation series is similar to the Horizon K12 trend report. Driving K-12 Innovation culls the expertise of an advisory board made up of K12 leaders, practitioners and thought leaders.
Instead of just one report, however, the new series will feature three reports as well as a toolkit intended to help school system leaders and practitioners 鈥渋nitiate and facilitate crucial conversations that help them put the ideas from the series into action,鈥 says Becker.

She describes the three report’s major themes:
- Hurdles. Obstacles that make participants slow down, evaluate, practice, and make the leap to support teaching and learning. Release date: January 8
- Accelerators. Megatrends that drive change鈥攕ometimes gradually so implications are not readily apparent. Release date: April
- Tech enablers. Tools that support smoother leaps over the hurdles and expansive changes in global K12 education. Release date: late June
