Crucial vote could pave the way for officers in every Nashville school

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) will ask Nashville city leaders for permission to apply for a nearly $4 million grant to obtain school resource officers (SRO).

The money will be used to place one, full-time SRO in every K12 Metro Nashville Public School and charter school.

The Public Health and Safety Committee will review the application Tuesday night and if approved, the application would then go before Metro Council and state leaders.
