The preliminary report on the Hamilton County, Tennessee, schooldistrict‘s buildings identified more than $1.36 billion in capital needs across 74 schools. Recommendations include renovating 11 schools, adding to 10 others, building new buildings for three schools, and closing 15 buildings.Read more.

The Puyallup, Washington, school board will ask district voters in November to approve a $273 million construction bond to improve high school security. The money would be used to consolidate classrooms from portables and smaller buildings into main buildings at Puyallup, Rogers and Walker high schools as well as add to the existing building at Emerald Ridge.Read more.
The Connecticut General Assembly voted for a bill that provides $160.5 million in funding for the state’s share of local school construction projects, that effectively rewards Hartford for closing several schools, and that ends reimbursement bonuses for intradistrict diversity magnet schools.
