Nonprofit Opportunities Industrialization Center of Washington and West Valley School District have partnered to offer a new program for 16- to 24-year-olds in Yakima County who have not earned a GED diploma or attended postsecondary school. Enrollment in the program will give young people the potential to earn a high school diploma while doing hands-on construction projects and getting paid. Read more.

Baltimore County is now expecting developers to help pay for new schools, roads and other improvements. That will happen starting next year, thanks to a recently imposed impact fee. The county expects to bring in about $10 million per year, which could help the school system deal with its building crisis. Read more.
