Construction Watch: Minnesota district’s building costs skyrocket

Saint Paul Public Schools in Minnesota is overhauling its rolling five-year plan for building improvements after spending far more than expected during the program’s first three years. Cost estimates for 18 building projects have increased 61% to $471 million, up from $292 million. Read more.

A $78 million school bond is on the ballot in Lumberton, Texas. More than half of the money, according to Lumberton ISD, is allocated for converting an existing school into a middle school, which will include renovating classrooms, demolishing portions of the building, constructing a new music building and science lab, and expanding the library and cafeteria.Read more.
