“Natural defenses” against potential active shooter situations are built into the design of Fruitport High School‘s new $48 million building in Michigan. There are built-in places for students and staff to hide because design elements shorten sightlines and provide “shadow zones.” Read more.

A work group comprising Maryland state, county and school officials are meeting to assess and prioritize public school construction needs. The goal will be to provide at least $400 million each year for public school construction. Read more.
