Oliver, an only child, was born in 2018, and he and his parents dont live near family. When the pandemic hit, it was kinda like a perfect storm during such an important time in early childhood development, said Dan, Olivers dad.

Olivers teachers noticed early on in preschool that he was having a hard time engaging with his peers and would keep to himself during group activities, Dan said. His parents initially brushed it off as shyness. It really surprised us because we dont see that at home at all, he said.

But as his teachers brought up their concerns, Dan and his wife, who werent familiar with the special education system, began to learn all about it.
