Former Education Secretary Arne Duncan wants the country to adopt a unifying set of ambitious education goals, but he doubts any politician will lead the way in doing so.

Duncan, who was a member of the Obama administration, spoke at the American Enterprise Institute, a conservative think tank at an event titled, A Way Forward for School Reform. But Duncan and Frederick Hess, AEIs director of education policy, suggested that there is no clear way forward.

Now its in the rearview mirror, and theres no indication its coming back.
