An overwhelming 96.7% of kindergarten and preschool teachers are women, according to a new聽聽from The Wall Street Journal using 2023聽聽from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. While it may be tempting to attribute the gender disparity to women鈥檚 inclination for nurturing roles, a more plausible reason may be the economics鈥攕pecifically, the dismally low salaries in the profession.
