Indiana just approved its new diploma. Here鈥檚 what will happen before schools implement it

Indiana’s new graduation requirements must be approved by the attorney general within 45 days of their approval by the state board. After that, they must receive the governor鈥檚 signature.

The new base diploma is meant to create more flexibility for students to pursue various pathways. IDOE鈥檚 next step is to prepare courses and descriptions that align to those new requirements. Indiana Secretary of Education Katie Jenner said that should be done by the end of this year.

鈥淩ight out of the gate, our schools are asking what that course flexibility looks like, so you鈥檙e going to see us stepping on the gas and getting that out hopefully right before the holidays,鈥 she said.
