In February, the girls basketball team at Mid Vermont Christian School, a pre-K-12 private school in Quechee, made the states Division 4 playoffs.

But instead of playing its first game, Mid Vermont Christian chose to forfeit because the opposing team had a transgender player. Going ahead with the matchup, Mid Vermonts head of school Vicky Fogg told the Valley News, would (jeopardize) the fairness of the game and the safety of our players.
