Being a high school senior, I have seen my fair share of students posting inappropriate content about the schools they attend. I have seen many classmates make posts complaining about certain teaches, classes and the school in general.
Since the use of technology and social media have grown exponentially over the past 10 years, this issue is becoming more and more prominent. Almost every school has encountered some sort of social media issue, and school boards are left wondering how and when they are allowed to punish students for posting inappropriate content.
This question has been raised in many schools across America including Hickory High School in Hermitage, Pennsylvania. In December 2005, four students there created fake MySpace accounts pretending to be their principal. These MySpace pages included posts with vulgar content talking about drinking, drugs and stealing.
